Foreign nationals who wish to have the rights to reside, full time in the Cayman Islands without employment can obtain a residency certificate which is valid for a period of 25 years and is renewable. Proof of independent means are required for all three islands, with Grand Cayman having the most stringent. To obtain a certificate for Grand Cayman, one must show valid proof of an annual income of at least US $ 182,927.00 and acquire local investment in the amount of US $ 914,634.00, of which 33 % of that value has to be in developed real estate. On the sister islands, the requirements are far less requiring an annual income of US $ 91,463 and an investment of US $ 304,878, of which at least 50 % of that value has to be in developed real estate. There is a onetime fee of US $18,598.00 due when granted the residency certificate.
