Hotels and resorts in the Cayman Islands are so ideal that choosing cheap accommodations doesn’t mean you’re going to end up in a rundown shack. However, as a savvy traveler, you have to find the best accommodations at the cheapest price. Here’s a list of the most affordable accommodations in the Cayman Islands that range from a little under USD $100 during the low season and under USD $150 in the peak season.
Tropical Breeze and Royal Palm Cottages at Breakers (USD $85.00)
If it’s cheap accommodations you want, you can’t go wrong with Tropical Breeze and Royal Palm Cottages at Breakers. It’s an ocean view 7-bedroom, 7-bath property with optional B&B services. Just a short stroll from Seven Mile Beach and approximately three miles from the Owen Roberts International Airport, the Comfort Suites and Resort offers reasonably priced accommodations to Grand Cayman visitors.
This hotel is not beachfront but it is beside the beach. For active and fitness-conscious guests, the hotel has bikes for rent, an outdoor pool, a water sports center, and a fitness room. Eldemire’s Tropical Island Dive Inn (USD$ 119)
Eldemire’s is one of only two bed and breakfasts in Grand Cayman. It is located within a quiet residential neighbourhood on the landward side of South Church Road, about a mile south of downtown George Town. Carol “Tootie” Eldemire-Huddleston, a kind but outspoken Jamaican businesswoman, runs the place. Accommodations in this very simple B&B are located either in the main house or a few outbuildings. Each room has a handful of simple pieces of furniture. A communal kitchen serves residents of standard rooms while suites have basic kitchenettes.
Courtyard by Marriott (USD $129)
The Courtyard by Marriott Grand Cayman is situated on both sides of the road across Seven Mile Beach on Grand Cayman Island. The Mangrove Grille and the hotel’s Gecko Beach Bar and Grill is located on this beach where guests can get lunch, drinks, snacks and other beach needs.
Red Sail Sports, a popular sporting and dive equipment vendor in Grand Cayman is adjacent to the hotel, where guests can book water sports rentals, dive instruction, dive trips and sunset cruises.
The Courtyard has five floors and 233 rooms. It has a fitness center & fresh water pool to cater to active guests. Cayman Cottage is a West Indian fully furnished cottage with 183 square meters of living space. It is equipped with a kitchen, bathroom with tub and shower, a private bedroom, and large living and dining areas. You can also easily relax at the white beach just 23 miles from the Cayman Cottage.
Sunshine Suites (USD $130)
Sunshine Suites is a newly renovated all-suite hotel that is adjacent to the famous Seven Mile Beach and located next to the Ritz Carlton and the Links Golf course. This three-floor hotel has a complimentary continental breakfast of scrambled eggs, hash browns, cereals, pastries, fruit, toast, bagels, orange juice, tea, or coffee. Other hotel amenities include a concierge, same-day dry cleaning, laundry facilities, an outdoor pool, and two picnic areas. The Sunshine Bar & Grill is situated on-site where both guests and locals can dine.
All 132 rooms are suites and have full kitchens, coffeemakers, AM/FM alarm clock radios, data ports, hairdryers, irons and ironing boards, cable TV, air-conditioning, and Golden Door Spa Toiletries. Carib Sands Beach Resort (USD $185)
Carib Sands Beach Resort is one of Cayman Brac’s most modern oceanfront condo resorts. Families usually choose this resort for its well-furnished four-bedroom units with kitchens. An idyllic strip of white sand beach will blow you away once you step outside Carib Sands. It also has an on-site dive center for those who want to explore the waters of Cayman Brac. Each concrete condo with tones of sea green, burgundy and blue is equipped with Navajo white wicker furniture. You may also meet people at the bar and restaurant just a short walk away from Carib Sands.
The Anchorage (USD $190)
The Anchorage is a villa complex that lies in one of the most peaceful areas of Seven Mile Beach. It offers privately owned, well-furnished and uniquely decorated units. Groups of two to four people will find the place perfect as each unit has two bathrooms and two bedrooms. Oceanfront accommodations are more expensive than units that open onto a garden. You can relax on the balcony or porch in each villa or snorkel nearby.
Beacon Harbor (is USD $205)
Scuba divers will find the perfect place for them in the form of Beacon Harbor located at the north side of Cayman Brac. Beacon Harbor’s luxurious condos are built on piers near Stake Bay, opposite three wonderful scuba diving sites and near some excellent snorkelling spots. You can easily clean your scuba gear in the open area downstairs equipped with wash-down facilities, showers and toilets. Rooms are very comfortable with tile floors and tones of peach and sea-foam green. Images of marine life forms decorate the walls while vinyl cushions and wicker furniture lie around the place. Your sleep will be long and cozy because each room has a queen-size bed and the large living room has a queen-size hid-a-bed. If you really want to have a nice, convenient stay in Cayman Brac, you may arrange for maid service for an additional charge.
Conch Club Condominiums (USD $250)
Upscale Conch Club is located north of Blossom Village in Little Cayman. It offers almost all facilities and amenities you can think of, including: a bar, restaurant, beauty shop, game room and fitness center. It is also just a stroll away from one of Little Cayman’s best dive shops and just steps away from the beach with fine sand. Two-bedroom and three-bedroom units are available at Conch Club. All units have a kitchen, living and dining room and laundry facilities. You can use the pool or Jacuzzi in the property or arrange for daily housekeeping. You may also eat your meals at the Bird of Paradise Restaurant near the resort.
Whatever cheap accommodations you choose, always check first if you’re comfortable with the overall look and mood of the place.
